Unity In The Nations
Our prayer agenda for this evening was to lift up the leaders and government of the United Kingdom into the Lord’s hands and we prayed specifically for unity between Wales, England and Scotland as UK’s Brexit negotiations begin. One person declared that Jesus is the one and only answer to the World and to all the issues that confront the United Kingdom, be it the elections, Brexit or the attacks in London that took place earlier this evening. She prayed that our eyes would be fixed upon the Lord Jesus. Another person released the word from,
1 Peter 2:13-15,
“Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men:
whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors,
who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right.
For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.”
We thanked the Lord that He brings unity and hostility, breaks walls of divisions, just as He did with the Jews and Gentiles. The heart of the Lord cries for wholeness and relationships, and we asked the Lord for unity to reign over the leadership of the parties and countries within the United Kingdom. We asked that God appoint righteous leaders in Wales and set their eyes on Him alone. We asked that He would make a way for His chosen leaders with a anointing for this season. We also prayed for the unity between Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England would be kept and the walls of hostility be torn down so that the United Kingdom would be one body.
As a prophetic act of unity, we joined hands and sang the song “We are one in the bond of love” as we prayed for God’s love to unite the nations. It was interesting that we had all four nations represented among us, so that moment was a powerful one. Some time was also spent praying for the attacks in Westminster, London, as we prayed for mercy, compassion and for protection over the government of the UK. May the light of Christ shine in the darkness and may You bring peace in this situation.
